Learning with Multimedia

At Berwick Lodge Primary School our students have access to many forms of multimedia resourses. 🙂

Students have access to iPads, a green screen studio, Macbook Airs, a computer lab of new Dell desktop computers and Lenovo 11e yoga laptops in their classroom.

Students at Berwick Lodge Primary School also have access to their own radio broadcast studio – connected with Casey Radio’s 3SER 97.7FM.

In our radio studio, we have interviewed many people including actors, musicians, authors, politicians, teachers and even former Prime Minsters. The radio studio has been maintained by numerous people over the last 20 odd years – but most notably by the former ICT Leading Teacher Lois Smethurst. Since her departure in 2014 however, the school’s multimedia co-ordinator Rob Kelly (2015 – present) has been in-charge of producing the Student Hour on 97.7FM Casey Radio. Lachlan Gilbert (the school’s technician) works as a producer for the Student Hour, too.

We also create films in our Film Studio (Multimedia Centre). Have a look at one of our award winning multimedia films on Vimeo:

We received a Vimeo ‘Staff Picks’ Award in Sep 2017 for ‘The Boy Who Runs’ – a film about anti-bullying produced by our students for the 2016 Drum Theatre Film Festival. Our film has now had over three thousand plays. Check it out here: https://vimeo.com/217787661
